Producer Jack Brodsky, whose long career in Hollywood also included serving as head of 20th Century Fox marketing and publicity, died in his sleep at his Sherman Oaks home late Monday. He was 69.

Co-producer of the upcoming Sony/Revolution Eddie Murphy starrer “Daddy Day Care,” he was a producer or co-producer on such films as “Romancing the Stone,” “The Jewel of the Nile,” “King Ralph,” “Little Murders” and numerous others as well as an exec producer on Martin Lawrence vehicle “Black Knight,” “Rookie of the Year” and more in addition to TV pics.

New York native wrote for newspapers including the New York Times, then segued to PR, working as a publicist for Fox in New York almost a decade, then later taking the helm of its marketing and PR department.

Among his assignments was publicist on the epic “Cleopatra.” Based on his experiences with the trials and tribulations of that fabled production, he wrote the book “The Cleopatra Papers.”

He toggled between publicity and producing, serving as publicist for “Funny Girl” as well as stars including Barbra Streisand and Elliott Gould, the latter with whom he also partnered on Woody Allen’s “Everything You Always Wanted to Know About Sex.” He also worked with Ray Stark for a number of years.

Survivors include wife Dorothy, sons Richard and Peter; and mother Shirley.
